The City of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., council has approved the addition of 10 new police vehicles to update the aging fleet.
The city will lease the Ford Police Interceptors — five sedans, two SUVs, and three additional unmarked sedans — for $375,815, Citizens Voice reported.
The Police Chief said last year, the city spent $60,000 repairing old vehicles. The police fleet manager said with the number of vehicles out of service, its ratio of officers to cars was 6 to 1 — the new vehicles will change this to 3 to 1.
New York City now has the largest EV law enforcement fleet in North America, according to the city.
