A bill that just passed the Oregon State senate would allow State agencies to install publicly accessible electric vehicle charging stations at their facilities. S.B. 536 would allow the State to contract with EV charging station vendors to help expand the network of charging stations in the state.
According to the State’s analysis of the bill, its fiscal impact at this time is unknown as the bill does not specify whether the State can or can’t bill EV charging station users.
The current version of the bill specifies a maximum of 10 locations at which the Oregon Department of Administrative Services can install chargers during a two-year period. The bill also limits the number of locations to five in two years for other State agencies.
