Oklahoma State University to Add CNG Station for Campus Fleets
SEAL BEACH, CA – The new CNG facility will support the University's program to replace most of its diesel bus and gasoline-powered fleet vehicles with energy-efficient, environmentally friendly CNG models.
SEAL BEACH, CA – Oklahoma State University (OSU) has awarded Clean Energy Fuels Corp. a new 15-year contract to construct, operate, and supply a new compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station on the OSU campus at Stillwater, Okla. The facility will support the University's accelerating program to replace most of its diesel bus and gasoline-powered fleet vehicles with energy-efficient, environmentally friendly CNG models.
The new Clean Energy OSU CNG station, also accessible to the public, should be ready this fall. The new facility will be equipped with two fast-fill CNG dispensers plus 24 time-fill CNG dispensers to supply fuel for OSU's growing CNG campus bus fleet. OSU has announced plans to acquire and deploy 24 new CNG transit buses and 150 CNG fleet vehicles in the next three years, with up to 500 fleet vehicles anticipated within 10 years.
"This is a big step in moving OSU forward with its green initiatives. As a premier land-grant university, it is important that we are good stewards of the earth," said OSU President Burns Hargis.
OSU has been evaluating alternative-fuel options for several years, and has now opted to focus on CNG for its campus fleets.
Clean Energy Senior Vice President James Harger said the company is fully committed to "supporting [OSU's] efforts to make the CNG fleet transition process an unqualified success."

Are You Tracking Your Fleet's True Total Cost of Ownership?
Bobit Business Media surveyed 190 fleet professionals and found that while most fleets are tracking costs, fragmented systems and data gaps are keeping true TCO visibility out of reach. With rising pressure to control spend in an increasingly volatile environment, the gap between what fleets think they know and what the data actually shows is wider than you might expect. See how your peers are managing costs today and where the industry still has room to improve.
