Fleet emissions are the second contributor of carbon emissions for the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO), and the waste authority aims to reduce this with compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric vehicles, the group announced. It’s part of SWACO’s goal to reduce carbon emissions by 64% by 2032.
SWACO will continue to transition its fleet from gas and diesel fuel to alternative fuel sources, primarily CNG and electricity. Vehicles are largely fueled by gasoline or diesel, which produce the most carbon emissions, according to SWACO’s recently released Carbon Emissions Management Plan.
