NYPD Receives First Shipment of 100 Smart Cars
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) Support Services Bureau has received its first shipment of 100 Smart Fortwo cars, with another 150 ordered.

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) Support Services Bureau has received its first shipment of 100 Smart Fortwo cars with another 150 ordered. Last year, the NYPD ran a pilot with the Smart Fortwos, deploying the cars for parking enforcement in the five boroughs.
Unlike the three-wheel motorbikes currently used by the bureau, the fourtwos have air conditioning, making work easier for officers on patrol during the summer. The cars are also upfitted with a blue revolving roof lamp and police radio equipment.
