New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo said 360 new EV charging stations will be installed at locations across the state as part of his Charge NY initiative. The New York Power Authority (NYPA) has issued an RFP for the installation of 100 electric vehicle charging stations at 36 locations, including transportation hubs, and at public and private parking lots, primarily in the Metropolitan New York City area. The State expects them to be in operation by 2014.
Beyond the NYPA’s RFP, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) awarded $3.6 million to 14 organizations to install more than 260 electric vehicle charging stations across the state, from Long Island to Buffalo. According to the governor’s office, most of the charging stations will be able to accommodate two vehicles at once.
