The Bellevue, Nebraska, Police Department unveiled its first electric vehicle (EV). The department's 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E is also the state's first electric police patrol vehicle.
Officers will use the vehicle for testing purposes on road patrol for the indefinite future, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

"Electric vehicles are a newer concept for police departments and we understand that further development will likely be necessary for these vehicles to function full-time in a police fleet," the post read.
The department does not currently have plans to replace the remainder of its fleet of hybrid and internal combustion engine cruisers with EVs.
