The Bellevue, Nebraska, Police Department unveiled its first electric vehicle (EV). The department's 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E is also the state's first electric police patrol vehicle.
Officers will use the vehicle for testing purposes on road patrol for the indefinite future, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.
The Bellevue Police Department is the first in the state of Nebraska to use an EV for patrol purposes.

"Electric vehicles are a newer concept for police departments and we understand that further development will likely be necessary for these vehicles to function full-time in a police fleet," the post read.
The department does not currently have plans to replace the remainder of its fleet of hybrid and internal combustion engine cruisers with EVs.
New York City now has the largest EV law enforcement fleet in North America, according to the city.
