N.C. City Switches from Chargers to Police Interceptors
Dodge Chargers have been the chosen patrol car of the Mount Airy Police Department (N.C.) since 2010. The agency decided to switch to Ford's Police Interceptor Utility because its all wheel drive is more conducive to the city’s weather conditions.

The Mount Airy Police Department, N.C., is trading in its fleet of Dodge Chargers for Ford Police Interceptors. The decision was made due to growing maintenance needs and environmental circumstances, reports Mount Airy News.
A local dealership provided a Ford Police Interceptor Utility to test, which received positive feedback from officers. One major advantage of the Police Interceptor is the all wheel drive which, according to Mount Airy News, is more conducive to the city’s weather conditions.
Dodge Chargers have been the Police Department’s chosen patrol car since 2010. New vehicles will be cycled in with the fleet's regular replacement schedule.
