MONTCLAIR TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Montclair plans to issue a request for proposals (RFP) to outsource refuse collection, based on comments from Township Manager Marc Dashield. The Montclair Times reported Dashield made these comments during a presentation of the proposed $70.5M budget.
In November 2010, the Township issued a report analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of changing refuse collection services in a number of ways, from reducing services, to outsourcing, to a subscription service for residents. According to the report, outsourcing would involve the elimination of 17 positions.
