The City of Hannibal, Mo., is adding automatic vehicle locators (AVLs) on its new Dodge Charger police vehicles for the first time.

The City of Hannibal, Mo., is adding automatic vehicle locators (AVLs) on its 11 new Dodge Charger police vehicles for the first time, allowing 911 dispatchers and supervisors to know where vehicles are at all times, the Hannibal Courier-Post reported. The vehicles will also come with in-vehicle cameras, which the Hannibal Police Chief said are no longer a luxury, but vital.
The city has made an effort to replace its police vehicles in a timely manner, but the average mileage on police vehicles is 120,000.
