A second employee of Lauderdale County, Miss., has been charged with theft of county fuel this month, just weeks after another employee was arrested for the same crime, The Meridian Star reported.
Charles Houston, a former road department foreman, is accused of using different county fuel cards to buy more than $22,000 in fuel for his own profit. He is charged with embezzlement.
Last month, former county road worker Jerry Morgan was charged with embezzlement, accused of stealing $237,000 in diesel over a two-year period.
These arrests are part of an ongoing investigation, and the Sheriff’s Department expects to make more arrests, according to the newspaper.
