The Little Rock (Ark.) Police Department will delay implementing its newer, stricter take-home vehicle policy because of a shortage of police officers and a spike in crime, Arkansas Online reported.
Current policy allows officers to take vehicles home no matter where they live; the new policy restricts take-home vehicles to officers who live within 25 miles of the city center, with some exceptions.
The city manager said take-home vehicles are an incentive; he doesn't want to lose any long-time officers, and there are 65 vacancies.
