LAPD Rolls Out Electric Bikes
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is adding a fleet of 20 electric bikes as part of its ongoing green initiative.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is adding a fleet of 20 electric bikes as part of its ongoing green initiative. The Bulls Sentinel eBikes are capable of reaching speeds of up to 28 mph.
Bulls Bikes worked with the LAPD over a nine-month RFP process to build the bicycles to meet the needs of the department’s urban law enforcement and patrol division, according to the company. This is the largest eBike deployment in the nation.
The Sentinel features a Bosch Performance Speed motor, aluminum frame design, brake cables routed externally for easy maintenance, 180x200mm Magura hydraulic rotor discs for aggressive braking, Schwalbe Super Moto tires, and Rock Shox Pike heavy-duty front suspension for better handling on urban scenarios such as pedaling up and down hills.
The 20 eBikes will be used in pedestrian environments, such as at the beach or crowded Hollywood Boulevard — where regular bicycles are used now, ABC7 reported.
