SEARCHLANCASTER, PA – Lancaster County (Pa.) Solid Waste Management Authority on Dec. 21 approved a $2.5 million plan to purchase 14 new compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks and build a CNG fueling station, according to Lancaster Online.
LANCASTER, PA – Lancaster County (Pa.) Solid Waste Management Authority on Dec. 21 approved a $2.5 million plan to purchase 14 new compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks and build a CNG fueling station, according to Lancaster Online.
The authority expects to save between $2.9 million and $4.8 million in the next 10 years due to lower CNG fuel costs. It expects an ROI for the station and vehicles in about 11 years.
The fueling station would be open to other fleets, both public and private. Neighboring municipalities have expressed interest in using the fueling facility, according to the newspaper. Read the full article at Lancaster Online.
According to its Community Sustainability report, the authority has been utilizing a B-5 biofuel blend in its transfer fleet and on-site equipment since 2007.
