The Opelousas, La., Police Department owes at least $100,000 in fleet repair costs since 2014, reports Daily World. According to city documents, repairs done to Opelousas Police Department vehicles were done without the necessary city approval.
Opelousas Police Chief Donald Thompson told KATC that fleet repairs were a necessity, negating the need for city approval. Thompson also said in an interview with Daily World that city officials were aware of mounting repair costs that the city was unable to cover.
