LAWRENCE, KS - Kinedyne Corporation’s Lawrence, Kan. facility – which produces a wide range of products, including cargo straps for the aviation industry – recently achieved the ISO 9001:2000 certification of its Quality Management System (QMS). The Lawrence plant is Kinedyne’s first U.S. facility to receive this internationally recognized quality management certification.

A provider of products for companies in the transportation and aerospace industries, including the federal government, Kinedyne worked for several months on documenting its processes and other operations within the facility.

“Because ISO certification requires a detailed review of key processes, we were able to identify those operations that are critical to our business and streamline them, removing things that were not essential.” explains Peter Miko, Kinedyne’s global quality director. “It was often a challenging process, but we learned a great deal and certainly made dramatic enhancements to our quality management system.”

In addition to the ISO 9001 certification, the Lawrence facility was recently recognized by the Lockheed Martin Corporation – a premiere producer of aerospace products – as an “Approved Source” of cargo securement products for the company.

The ISO certification is effective for three years, subject to surveillance audits by a third party. This certification gives the company the competitive edge it needs to service customers ranging from the private sector to the U.S. Department of Defense.

Kinedyne’s Lawrence team marked this achievement with a celebration for all associates who contributed to the effort.  In recognition of the achievement, Miko presented the Lawrence team with an ISO 9001:2000 flag, an ISO banner, and the original ISO certificate.
