The State of Kentucky had a ceremony on April 22 (Earth Day) to formally induct electric vehicles into the State’s fleet. The State has purchased four new Chevrolet Volts and installed two charging stations, which are installed outside the State’s Department for Environmental Protection headquarters. Kentucky’s First Lady Jane Beshear, Energy and Environment Cabinet Secretary Len Peters, and Finance and Administration Cabinet Lori H. Flanery participated in the ceremony.
According to the State, Kentucky’s Governor’s energy plan calls for a 30% fuel-economy improvement in the State’s vehicle fleet by 2015 and a 50% improvement by 2025. The plan also calls for the use of alternative-fuel vehicles, such as plug-in hybrids.
