Indianapolis Adds Hybrids to Vehicle Fleet
INDIANAPOLIS – The City of Indianapolis has purchased 85 hybrid vehicles.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The City of Indianapolis has purchased 85 hybrid vehicles, according to www.insideindianabusiness.com.
The Toyota Camry Hybrids, manufactured in Kentucky, are purchased as part of a pilot program and will be used by the Department of Public Safety and will serve as non-pursuit vehicles.
According to city officials, by adding hybrid vehicles to the fleet, not only will the city be spending less money on gasoline, but it will reduce the fleet’s impact on local air quality. The new vehicles average 33 miles per gallon and are rated among the top vehicles for low air pollution according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
