High gasoline prices have prompted the Borough of Flemington in New Jersey to scrutinize its take-home fleet more closely. Council members recently approved a resolution requiring employees with take-home vehicles to keep a weekly log of their mileage driven, TapIntoFlemington/Raritan reported.
The new resolution updates the borough's Personnel Policies & Procedures Manual and states that those with take-home vehicles “shall submit a weekly vehicle mileage log each Monday for the previous week.” The log must indicate the starting mileage of each use a brief description of the necessity of use, the name of the employee, and the date and time of vehicle use. The log must be completed daily, including weekends if applicable.
