GASTON COUNTY, TEXAS – Gaston County residents can be assured that emergency vehicles will have fuel during the current gas shortage situation, the County said.
Curtis Owens, owner of the TimeOut gas station on N.C. 275 in Dallas, has offered to close his business to the public to ensure gas supplies for Gaston County Sheriff’s office, police, Emergency Medical Services, and fire department vehicles, according to the Gaston Gazette.
Gaston County does not maintain a supply of gasoline for fleet purposes and instead has contracted services with Fuelman for all County vehicles. With gas supplies being unpredictable at stations that offer Fuelman, it became necessary to ensure a supply for emergency vehicles. Additionally, all other cars in the County fleet are being limited to necessary travel only.
According to Gaston County Board of Commissioners Chairman Mickey Price, the County has already begun looking into gasoline storage for its fleet in the future should they face similar circumstances.
Gaston County emergency responders use about 1,000 gallons of gasoline per day.
