Ga. City to Replace Crown Victoria Destroyed in Fire

The Fort Oglethorpe (Ga.) Police Department is replacing a vehicle that was destroyed in a fire earlier this fall Northwest Georgia News reported.
The department was able to garner over $10,000 from insurance on the burned, 2010 Crown Victoria, leaving the remaining balance to purchase a new vehicle around $19,000. Fort Oglethorpe City Council approved the purchase using insurance and department funds.
The police chief said the new vehicle will come equipped with protective gear, such as headlight wraps. Rather than using money from a local tax to replace the vehicle, the chief proposed using money allocated in the department's budget.
