A patrol officer driving a Mercedes F-Cell police car apprehended a student driver on her way to class who had failed to take heed of a stop sign. The traffic stop was made by Sergeant Frank Smith, who admitted the car — equipped with a siren, WSU police department logos, and police lights — often attracts attention from civilians.
The fuel cell vehicle, which is part of the DaimlerChrysler fuel cell vehicle fleet, has a range of 110 miles and a top speed of 87 miles per hour.
