WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Forsyth County has selected a Web-based fleet and motor pool management application. The County rolled out this application, FleetCommander, from Agile Access Control, Inc., to four locations that manage 127 of its 620 vehicles. The County was able to reduce the fleet’s size by 30 vehicles.

Three locations are now equipped with touch-screen, self-service kiosks, and secure key boxes that distribute and collect keys. The fourth location manages the motor pool using the Web-based software's graphical dispatching tools.

"By utilizing the FleetCommander software, we were able to right size the fleet while ensuring that transportation is available to employees when needed. The county fleet was immediately reduced by 30 vehicles, and this number may increase as usage data is collected," says Forsyth County General Services Department Business Manager Sara Warmuth. In addition, Warmuth says that personal mileage reimbursement is expected to decrease because of more efficient vehicle sharing, which eliminates the need for employees to use their personal vehicles for county business. The county fleet currently serves 2,000 employees.

In addition to the motor pool capabilities, Forsyth County fleet managers are using FleetCommander for asset management, driver management, policy enforcement, reporting, communication with fleet drivers, among other uses.
