NEWARK, NJ - The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey awarded Clean Energy Fuels Corp and Covanta Essex to site, build, and operate a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station at the Essex County Resource Recovery Facility in Newark, N.J., according to a release from Clean Energy.
The CNG fueling station, to be built and operated by Clean Energy on the Covanta Essex site, will be a convenient and effective way for public and private municipal waste haulers to convert their fleets of diesel vehicles to cleaner CNG vehicles. Covanta Essex operates the Essex County Resource Recovery Facility (ECRRF), which is owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The ECRRF is an Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facility located in Newark.
