EAGLE COUNTY, CO – An Eagle County fleet services mechanic was recently indicted on suspicion of involvement in a motorcycle theft ring, according to the Vail Daily. Eagle County officials said there is no evidence the mechanic used county facilities in connection with the alleged crimes.

Edward Degner, 54, who worked as an auto body repair technician for the county fleet department since December 2008, was accused of running a "chop shop" out of his business in Rifle between April 2004 and April 2007, Eagle County officials said. He has been fired. 

A background check conducted prior to his employment came back clear, with no criminal history, according to a county official.

Degner has been indicted on 14 counts of aggravated motor vehicle theft and four counts of stolen auto parts.

The case is under the purview of the Colorado Attorney General.
