Detroit PD Overpaying for Vehicles With Expired Leases
The Detroit Police Department is making full lease payments for 110 leases that have been expired for as long as six years. The PD has paid more than $56,000 to lease a 2004 Dodge Intrepid, according to WXYZ.
The Detroit Police Department is making full lease payments for 110 leases that have been expired for as long as six years. It’s also liable for over-mileage penalties and excess wear and tear, according to WXYZ.
One example given is a $608 per month lease for a 2004 Dodge Intrepid used as an undercover vehicle. Over the 93 months the PD has been paying the full lease amount, the PD has paid $56,544 for the car, not including over-mileage fees.
