A Lee County Sheriff’s Office (Fla.) officer faces charges of neglect of duty after failing to take his vehicle in to be serviced, leading to the hospitalization of his K-9 partner. He had been told he needed to resolve a mechanical issue with the vehicle, according to Wink News.
Weeks later, the officer left his K-9 partner in the vehicle with the windows partially down at the gun range. When he returned, the K-9 had vomited inside the vehicle, was breathing rapidly, and was wobbly on his feet. He was treated at an emergency vet hospital for possible carbon monoxide poisoning.
