The City of Dearborn, Mich., participated in the national Adopt-A-Watt program, which resulted in the installation of an electric vehicle charging station and 25 high-efficiency lights at the Henry Ford Centennial Library parking lot. Both projects were paid for by 25 corporate, organizational, and individual sponsors in the Dearborn community.
This is the second Adopt-A-Watt project that the City has participated in. The first was in 2011 and involved the installation of one EV charging station and 102 induction lights at the west Dearborn parking decks. A total of 32 organizations donated to sponsor that project.
In May, the Adopt-A-Watt program said it is offering capital for municipal and university garage lighting projects. You read more about the Adopt-A-Watt program here.
According to the City, the lighting project at the Dearborn parking decks lighting project and the new lighting project at the library will save the City $176,000 in operating costs.
