HARTFORD, CT – A state of Connecticut garage in Hartford will begin dispensing ethanol, adding a third fueling alternative for state vehicles that can run on the corn-based fuel, according to the Hartford Courant.
By the end of the month, a 10,000-gallon tank at the state-run garage will pump E-85, a blend of 85-percent ethanol and 15-percent gasoline. It will be the third pump of its kind in the state.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell said the Hartford location was chosen because of the high number of state-run vehicles in the city. Rell’s administration faced criticism earlier this year over the state’s policy of buying vehicles that can run on E-85 or gasoline, but almost always use gasoline. A state study found flex-fuel vehicles were using the ethanol fuel only three percent of the time.
