The City of Grand Junction, Colo., has finished a $2.8 million compressed natural gas (CNG) project that has been in the works for a decade, the city has announced.
The facility, which is being jointly financed by the city and Grand Valley Transit, will fuel the city's fleet of nearly 30 CNG vehicles as well as several transit busses.
The project was the recipient of a $500,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs. Contractor BioCNG LLC broke ground on the project in December 2014. The facility captures biomethane at the Persigo wastewater plan for practical use.
