Clarion County Gets 6 New Vehicles through State Grant
CLARION, PA – Clarion County's transportation department will receive six new vehicles thanks to a $373,000 grant from PennDOT's Community Transportation Capital Equipment Program, according to the Clarion News.
CLARION, PA – Clarion County's transportation department will receive six new vehicles thanks to a $373,000 grant from PennDOT's Community Transportation Capital Equipment Program, according to the Clarion News.
None of the funding comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, but instead from a $13.2 million investment of state and federal funds, which will be distributed among 67 transportation providers throughout the state, reported Clarion News.
The county will purchase three wheelchair-accessible mini-vans and three small transit buses.
Clarion County transportation Director Stephanie Wilshire told Clarion News the money will essentially bring the county fleet "up-to-date" so that all fleet vehicles are replaced as needed.
Although none of the money comes directly from the stimulus, Wilshire said some of the stimulus money went into PennDOT's shared-ride program and freed up more line-item PennDOT money for public transportation improvements, reported Clarion News.
