City of Grayslake to Begin Using Low-Emissions Fuel for Public Works Vehicles
GRAYSLAKE, IL – Biodiesel fuel will now be used by Grayslake Public Works Department vehicles.
GRAYSLAKE, IL – Biodiesel fuel will now be used by Grayslake Public Works Department vehicles. This fuel will replace the petroleum-based diesel fuel that was previously utilized by the Public Works Department, according to www.lakecountyjournals.com.
“The implementation of biodiesel fuel is a very important environmental project for the village and stays consistent with our commitment to keeping Grayslake a ‘green’ community,” Village President Tim Perry said in a release.
Use of this environmentally friendly fuel is another clean-air initiative Grayslake has implemented. In 2004, Grayslake voluntarily began its compliance with the Illinois Clean Fuel Fleet Program through the purchase of low emissions and ultra-low emissions vehicles.
With these clean fleet initiatives, along with other environmental programs like the Tree Reimbursement Program, Neighborhood Partnership Program, Lawn Mower Rebate Program, expanded curbside recycling, and operation of a public recycling center, Grayslake continues to be recognized as a Clean City by the Clean Air Counts Campaign.
