FREMONT, CA – The Fremont Police Department is working to decrease the age of its patrol fleet and increase the safety of the vehicles, according to the Fremont Tribune. This week the department ordered three 2007 Ford Crown Victoria police interceptors at a cost of $22,507 each.
Fremont has used Ford vehicles for more than 10 years and always follows the state bid contract. The cars are ordered to the state specs, but other options can be added. Three cars were ordered this year and are planned for next year instead of the normal two. They will replace three of the 22 vehicles in the fleet with the highest mileage. They are rotated yearly due to mileage.
