City of Dublin Fleet Receives Award for Going Green
DUBLIN, OH - The City of Dublin reported that Clean Fuels Ohio’s state-wide program has designated the City’s Division of Fleet Management as an Ohio Green Fleet.
DUBLIN, OH - The City of Dublin reported that Clean Fuels Ohio’s state-wide program has designated the City’s Division of Fleet Management as an Ohio Green Fleet. The program is designed to recognize fleets that improve air quality and reduce the state’s dependence on imported petroleum.
The City’s Division of Fleet Management earned a one-star Ohio Green Fleet designation. According to the City, it reduced its use of petroleum-based fuels by adding 44 compressed natural gas (CNG) fueled vehicles, which will save an estimated $30,000 per year.
“Providing our customer agencies with economically and environmentally sound transportation is one of our top priorities,” said Darryl Syler, fleet manager. “These 44 compressed natural gas powered vehicles are more cost effective and environmentally friendly than petroleum powered vehicles.”
The Ohio Green Fleets program has held a number of workshops, seminars, and individual meetings across the state, which has resulted in hundreds of fleets beginning the process of working toward an Ohio Green Fleet certification, the organization stated.
Earlier this year, the City opened a new CNG station. The City also earned the number 63 place on the 2012 100 Best Fleets list.
