BURLINGTON, ONTARIO, CANADA – The City of Burlington city council has approved its first-ever plan to green its corporate fleet of vehicles. This transition strategy relates to the city’s new strategic plan, which calls for the reduction of corporate greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent on a per capita basis from 1994 levels by the year 2012, according to www.burlingtonpost.com.
The strategic plan also sets out the goal of transitioning to a green corporate fleet of vehicles that emit low emissions and burn cleaner fuels — such as the purchase of more hybrid vehicles — plus using ‘right-sized’ vehicles for a job. Some large pick-up trucks have been replaced with compact pick-up trucks and some compact pick-up trucks replaced with smaller vehicles.
