The Ventura County (Calif.) Sheriff's Department is among the first law enforcement fleets to take delivery of the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV, as the agency transitions from discontinued Ford Crown Vics.

"The safety and ergonomics of the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV are the key reasons for the sheriff's department and our fleet operations team choosing this vehicle to replace their current patrol vehicles," said Peter Bednar, the county's fleet operations manager. "The visibility from the vehicle allows deputies to better spot incidents and react faster."

The agency is planning to cycle out existing vehicles until it achieves a marked patrol fleet consisting entirely of Tahoe PPVs. Chevrolet is offering the pursuit-rated four-wheel-drive Tahoe in 2015 after many years of offering a non-pursuit rated version.

General Motors has been taking orders since March and reports 6,500 Tahoe PPV orders so far.

General Motors has also begun offering the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab as a special service vehicle for 2015.
