The City of San Jose, Calif., released Climate Smart San Jose, which outlines a path to achieving the Paris Agreement’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. Among the plan’s goals are to expand fleet electrification as quickly as possible and further research the implications of autonomous vehicles on the fleet.
The city recently ordered 10 Proterra Catalyst E2 zero-emission battery-electric transit buses for use at the San Jose International Airport to supplement its 10 compressed natural gas (CNG) shuttles. The electric buses are scheduled to be placed in service by the end of the year, and a few of the CNG buses will remain in service during the transition.
