AUSTIN, TX - Austin-Travis County EMS ambulance is testing out an Energy Xtreme battery pack to help reduce vehicle idling, according to KXAN. The system will allow vehicle operators to keep the air conditioning, heater, refrigerator, and radios running for more than an hour without burning fuel.
Austin-Travis County EMS Tests Anti-Idling System on Ambulance
AUSTIN, TX - An Austin-Travis County EMS ambulance is testing out an Energy Xtreme battery pack to help reduce vehicle idling, according to KXAN. The system will allow vehicle operators to keep the air conditioning, heater, refrigerator, and radios running for more than an hour without burning fuel.
The unit is already installed on Austin patrol cars to allow officers to transfer video from their dash cameras with the engines off, the news source reports.
