Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields is defending the city after a former employee accused Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed of purchasing vehicles with money allocated to the Police Department (APD).
Last week, a former APD manager filed a lawsuit against the city, alleging that she was fired after discovering the vehicles Mayor Reed uses were purchased with money set aside for police cars. She also alleged that police officers were driving Mayor Reed and his family on personal errands, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution. She filed a lawsuit against the city, seeking her job back as well as back pay and attorney fees.
