Arizona Lottery Rolls Out Vehicle Usage Training
The head of the Arizona State Lottery is implementing a new training program to ensure that employees don’t break the law when using state vehicles, following a complaint that he misused his state-assigned car.
The head of the Arizona State Lottery is implementing a new training program to ensure that employees don’t break the law when using state vehicles, reports the Phoenix New Times.
The move comes after the lottery's appointed leader, Tony Bouie, received an anonymous complaint letter alleging that he used a state-owned Chevrolet Impala for personal reasons. Bouie has said he did sometimes use the vehicle to transport one or more of his children, but didn't use it to attend doctor’s appointments and personal lunches.
State employees are prohibited from using the vehicle to drive to and from home, for personal convenience, or transportation of family members or friends under Arizona state law and the state's fleet vehicle policy.
