KERRVILLE, TEXAS - The Alamo Area Clean Cities Coalition (AACCC), a voluntary, public/private partnership that works to advance the region's environmental and public health, energy security, and economic development, helped raise funds to build a dune buggy as part of the American Cancer Society's Camp Discovery. The camp takes place annually in July at the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, Texas, and is open to Texas residents, ages 7-16, with a cancer diagnosis, who are not eligible to attend other camps in the state.
Made from an all-terrain vehicle chassis and converted to run on electricity using a kit produced by ACE Technologies, the buggy is powered by a lithium ion battery pack and a solar panel. It will be featured on this week's Clean Cities Success Story.
