At an event on Tuesday, July 12, in Woodside Queens, New York, New York City's Mayor Michael Bloomberg, along with a range of City department heads, announced the addition of 70 electric vehicles to the City's fleet. The new vehicles include Chevrolet Volts for the NYPD, 10 Ford Transit Connect Electric vans, and 10 Navistar eStar vehicles. The Indiana Department of Transporation (INDOT) is converting nearly 600 cargo vans and pickup trucks out of its fleet of 3,500 to be capable of running on propane. In addition, INDOT is purchasing 19 CNG-fueled yellow plow trucks. These vehicles will reduce the amount of gasoline and diesel fuel used by INDOT by 500,000 gallons each year.
