The show floor was packed with alternative-fuel vehicles and solutions, allowing fleet managers to discover new products and network with suppliers.

For two days in October, Schaumburg, Ill., was among the greenest places in the country. The reason: the 2012 Green Fleet Conference and Expo, which was held Oct. 2 and 3. The event was co-located with NGVAmerica’s 2012 NGV Conference and Summit.

The event, which was produced by Bobit Business Media, the publisher of Government Fleet, attracted fleet professionals from both the public and private sectors — some with long experience in sustainable fleet practices who were looking to hone their knowledge, and others who were exploring sustainable fleet practices for the first time.

Among the highlights were keynote addresses by John Davis, host of television’s MotorWeek; Johanna Wellington from GE Global Research; Mitch Jackson of FedEx; and Dave Hurst of Pike Research, a part of Navigant. This year’s awards ceremonies included the Sustainability All-Stars and the Government Green Fleet awards. Attendees had a chance to try out the latest alt-fuel vehicles during a ride-and-drive event. Educational opportunities and the chance to meet with representatives of all aspects of the industry in the exhibit hall rounded out the sustainable picture for attendees.

The sixth annual Green Fleet Conference will be held in Phoenix Oct. 1-2, 2013.
