LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – Gwinnet County Fleet maintenance has earned Blue Seal of Excellence as prescribed by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of vehicle repair and service by means of voluntary testing and certification for automotive/truck repair and service professionals. Today, more than 400,000 professionals are ASE certified. To be eligible for recognition, an organization must have 75 percent of its automotive/truck professionals ASE certified. In addition, there must be a certified technician in each area of service offered. To remain in the program, a business must renew each year and confirm their professionals’ certification status. Gwinnett County Fleet Maintenance has been servicing the county’s emergency and support equipment since 1951. The county’s fleet maintenance department has been working on the ASE certification program since the year 2000. Today, it has 42 automotive, truck, heavy equipment, and administrative professionals. Ninety-two percent of the technical professionals are ASE certified, and 65 percent are ASE certified Master in their disciplines; several are Master in multiple areas as well as being EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certified.
