SAN DIEGO – To make room for a new main library on the site, police moved their garage four miles away, near the police pistol range, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper. The new $10.7 million facility, which includes a dog training base and consists of 32,000 square feet on two levels, was dedicated this week. "One of the biggest benefits of the new facility is that it gives us a larger body shop in which to repair damage to the fleet of vehicles assigned to the department," said John Alley, fleet administrator. The facility also provides the work force with better equipment, Alley said. The body shop consists of five bays, a paint booth and a metal fabrications shop.
