The Michigan State Police held its annual police vehicle tests in September, and Government Fleet has highlighted vehicles and motorcycles that performed the best in each test. However, fleet managers who want the full report for all vehicles and motorcycles tested can now view it at the MSP website.

The report includes methodology, vehicle photos and package descriptions, ergonomics and communications evaluations, fuel economy comparisons, and the full results of all tests.

In the communications category, which tests the difficulty of necessary communications installations, the Dodge Durango ranked highest, with 9.78 points out of 10.

In the ergonomics category, taking into consideration seats, instrumentation, vehicle controls, and visibility, the Durango also ranked highest, with 9.13 points out of 10.

As for fuel economy, the hybrids ranked highest — the Ford Police Responder Hybrid Sedan had a combined MPG of 38, and the Ford PIU Hybrid AWD has a combined MPG of 24. Among non-hybrid models, the Dodge Durango 3.6L AWD and the 2021 Dodge Charger 3.6L AWD tied for best fuel efficiency, with 21 MPG.
