The Saginaw (Mich.) Police Department has acquired a Mine-Resistant Ambush Proof (MRAP) vehicle from the U.S. Department of Defense less than three months after turning over a military vehicle after an order from President Obama.

The agency's Chief Robert Ruth informed the City Council that the city has been put on a national priority list to recieve the MRAP, reports MLive.com.

The agency had turned in an Armored Personel Carrier (APC) on Dec. 7, after Obama recalled all tracked vehicles to reduce what he called police militarization. The agency had used the vehicle twice in 10 years to deal with a barricaded gunman.
