The City of San Angelo's (Texas) council has approved a $198,000 fleet telematics purchase that includes initial hardware costs and an annual subscription of more than $131,000.

The city hopes it will allow for proactive maintenance management, save city employees time, and reduce fuel costs, reports San Angelo Live.

Telematics data will be integrated with the fleet management software to streamline reporting. The tracking devices will be installed in all 600 fleet vehicles.
