Tom Johnson, founder of 100 Best Fleets, died on December 27, 2022. Johnson, age 76, passed away from complications from Lou Gehrig's disease, commonly known as ALS. A profile has been created on the ALS Association's website for donations to the organization in Johnson's honor.

The National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA) released a statement on Johnson's death, saying "Tom tirelessly dedicated his time and effort in pursuit of the betterment of fleet, and became an advisor to many and a friend to all in the industry. He will be greatly missed."
