Traffic investigators with the San Antonio, Texas, Police Department are learning how to use drone technology in crash investigations. According to KSAT, investigators hope utilizing the drones will reduce investigation times so they can reopen roads as quickly as possible after crashes.

San Antonio Police Detective Daniel Karako said investigators typically use digital photography, which can slow the process. The drones will speed up the investigations, taking up to 700 photos for examination.

Karako hopes to have all of the department's traffic investigators certified by the FAA to fly the drones within the next year.
